Cercidiphyllum japonicum is a large deciduous tree grown for its attractive heart shaped foliage, which changes colour as the seasons progress. Young leaves are bronze when they appear, turning bright green in summer, and then changing again in autumn to stunning shades of pink, orange and yellow. The best colours are produced when the tree is grown on moist, slightly acidic soils. An added bonus is the burnt sugar scent of the fallen leaves. Flowers May June. Height 301cm. Supplied in a 3 litre pot.
