Decaisnea fargesii is a very large, relatively slow growing, upright, multi stemmed, open, deciduous shrub with bold, divided leaves up to 90cm long which are tinged with blue in spring, and turn clear yellow in autumn. Long sprays of insignificant, green or yellow green flowers in early summer are followed in autumn by metallic looking, deep blue fruit with gelatinous flesh in bean like pods up to 10cm long. Height 301cm.
