As the weather begins to get colder in the autumn, the dark green and red foliage of 'Carinella' turns to a deep purple maroon colour which not only makes it stand out itself but also helps to highlight other plants around it. Racemes of white flowers are also produced in spring which really stand out due to the colour contrast before this compact evergreen shrub produces new flushes of green and red foliage during the summer months.
