Everyone loves a classic azure blue Agapanthus in the summer, a real good doer and easy going plant in a pot or in a sunny, well drained spot. New Agapanthus breeding in the last 10 years has focussed on improving the number of flowers you get and flowering on younger plants and the waiting is no more, as 'Lapis Lazuli' is very early to flower, indeed you will get flowers from these in the first summer after planting. Their deep blue flower colour, just like the gemstone, last well and make a good cut flower too. Grow in terracotta pots, in warm, sunny spots, and feed well as buds emerge. Fully hardy, they will die back each winter, although may retain some foliage in milder spots. Slow growing and spreading, they will improve over many, many years, producing upwards of 40 50 flowers on mature plants in 5 years time.
