Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea is a deciduous shrub with a long season of interest, starting in spring when the new reddish purple foliage emerges. Clusters of scented, bright yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by bright red berries in autumn. The leaves also change colour in autumn, turning a brilliant blazing red. It makes an excellent hedging plant, with the long spiny thorns acting as a good deterrent for added security. Height 100 150cm. Supplied in a 3 litre pot.
