Carpinus betulus Bare Roots 120150cm

Carpinus betulus Bare Roots 120150cm

The Hornbeam hedging plant is a very popular native species with very similar characteristics to Beech in that it retains many of its leaves in winter not quite as good as Beech but they go coppery coloured a bit less coppery than Beech more of a browngrey but this species has more deeply veined and pointed leaves and is very well suited to wetter soils. It's a popular species to add in to native mixed hedging to give it some semi evergreen quality and also very good as a single species hedge in a garden setting. Available in packs of 25 or 50 bare roots and grows 20 40cm per year.Seasonal InterestWildlife FriendlyBare Root hedging plants are a great, cost effective way for you to achieve your hedging goals. They are grown in an open environment, exposed to natural conditions, which allows these plants to develop with no restrictions. When opting for this root type, you will receive well established plants with sturdy root systems as a result of their growing method. Given the way in which they are grown, bare rooted plants are available from November until May as this is the time of year when the plants are dormant and can be safely lifted from the field. This category mostly consists of native, deciduous hedging species which many of them flower andor berry so they make great hedges for wildlife and provide seasonal interest.
