This handled amphora planter holds a beautifully rustic charm. A simplistic design that has lasted throughout the ages it perfectly captures the sophistication and charm of the classical epoch. Hand made in the Mediterranean theme and aged to look as though it was pulled from the depths of the Lost Civilisation of Atlantis, this planter would be ideal as the highlight in a modern, minimalist design, or as a little mystery tucked away in a rustic cottage garden. This planter is named after the Athenian politician of the ancient world, Critias. This is the Critias of Plato's dialogue Critias who is believed to be the grandfather of the infamous Critias of the Thirty Tyrants. It is from the dialogue Critias that we glean most information on Atlantis. In this piece, Critias describes how he had heard the tale from Solon, who had in turn, heard it from the Egyptians. He tells of how at the creation of the earth, the gods were each given a part of the world to rule and it was Poseidon that appropriately received the colossal island of Atlantis. You can now add a piece of classical Greek mythology to your garden. These are handmade and fired in a brick kiln wilth wood, as such there will be some variation in colour and finish.
