This rounded planter with a single handle on the neck paints evocative images of the Hellenic golden age that struck such a chord with world history that its echo can still be heard today in the fields of architecture, politics, art and many more besides. Hand made in the Mediterranean theme and aged to look as though it was pulled from the depths of the Lost Civilisation of Atlantis, this planter would be ideal as the highlight in a modern, minimalist design, or as a little mystery tucked away in a rustic cottage garden. This Planter is named after Socrates, perhaps the most famous philosopher of the ancient world. Socrates is mentioned in Plato's Critias in conversation about Atlantis with Hermocrates, Timaeus and Critias. Socrates has achieved renown from his depiction in the plays of his contemporary, Aristophanes and in the writings of two of his best students Plato and Xenophon. This attractive planter will provided a classic and sophisticated piece for any garden design. These are handmade and fired in a brick kiln wilth wood, as such there will be some variation in colour and finish.
