Clematis montana var.rubens is a twining climber, with pale pink four petalled flowers that cover the shrub in late spring and early summer. It also has a sweet fragrance, making a favourite for walls near the house, where the fragrance can be enjoyed. It will grow in sun or partial shade, and will cope with north facing walls. Train through an evergreen tree, or allow to ramble over a pergola. Belongs to pruning group 1 needing pruning only to maintain shape and size, and to remove dead wood. Flowers May June. Height 250 300cm. Supplied in a 3 4 litre pot.
