Corylopsis pauciflora, buttercup witch hazel is a dense, slow growing shrub with red tinged ovate leaves when young bearing fragrant, primrose yellow, bell shaped flowers in spring that appear in short drooping racemes 2 5 flowers. Native to western Japan and Taiwan the bright green toothed leaves have distinctive sunken veining turning to shades of yellow to yellowish green in autumn. Buttercup is in reference to the fragrant yellow flowers. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Flowers March April. Height 100 150cm. Supplied in a 3 litre pot.
