There are thousands of miles of Hawthorn hedging in Britain and for many good reasons it is native, prickly, with pretty, profuse white flowers in May hence its alternative name May Blossom and loads of red hips, which are ideal bird food, in autumn. Hawthorn is commonly used in farm fields, it's also increasingly popular in a domestic setting as a single species hedge or as the majority species within a native mixed hedge and it has many wildlife qualities. White flowers produced. Flowers early March late May mid September mid November. Grows 60 90cm per year. Supplied as 60 90cm bare roots.
