Photinia fraseri 'Red Robin' is also known by its common name Christmas Berry. It is a popular choice for evergreen hedging. The young leaves emerge a vibrant red colour which gradually change to glossy dark green as they mature. In April and May it bears rounded domes of creamy white flowers. Photinia can be clipped to form hedging, and this also promotes the growth of new young leaves with their attractive colouring. Photinias will grow in both sun or partial shade, although a sunny spot will produce better foliage colour and more flowers. They like a moist, well drained soil with an acid or neutral pH.
