In a similar way to red Pyracantha, the orange variety is often chosen as an intruder hedge, given its spikey thorns and dense evergreen coverage. Pyracantha is also a popular option for a wildlife friendly hedge. Over the spring it has lovely fragrant white flowers which can become quite a strong feature as the hedge matures. These flowers are then followed by vibrant orange berries in the autumn, providing year round interest. Mixing the orange and red Pyracantha together can be a great way to generate a colourful garden over the autumn months as the berries come through. Plants supplied 40cm high and grow 30 60cm per year.
