Squirrels usually use their living space for several different functions like sleeping or as food storage chamber. In case of danger, they can move quickly to another nest. It is useful to hang at least two nests within sight of each other. Characteristic for a squirrel nest box is that it has several inputs and outputs. It is very important that at least one is close to the trunk. This gives the squirrel a sense of security. If danger arises, the animals can quickly escape from the nest box.
